Granitestone Blue 20-Piece Cookware Set

The 'As Seen on TV' giant promises everything for $150. What is the catch?

Granitestone Blue 20-Piece Cookware Set

The Mega-Bundle Illusion

Infomercials love to promise the world, and the Granitestone Blue 20-Piece Set is a prime example. For an incredibly low price, you receive frying pans, saucepans, a stockpot, a steamer, and a full set of baking sheets. It claims to feature a diamond-infused non-stick coating that can withstand metal utensils and hammers.

The pans are constructed of stamped aluminum, making them extremely lightweight. The blue, speckled non-stick surface is visually striking. For a college student outfitting their first apartment from scratch, the sheer volume of items is incredibly appealing.

Managing Expectations

The non-stick coating works well out of the box. Eggs slide easily, and cleanup is a breeze. However, despite the marketing claims, you should absolutely not use metal utensils. The coating is thin, and heavy metal use will scratch it, eventually leading to flaking.

  • Pros: Unbeatable price for a massive 20-piece bundle, lightweight, decent initial non-stick release.
  • Cons: Very thin aluminum leads to hot spots and warping, the non-stick coating degrades quickly, handles feel cheap.
  • Best For: Outfitting a dorm room, an Airbnb rental, or a first apartment on an extreme budget.

Because the aluminum is so thin, the pans do not retain heat well and are prone to hot spots, meaning pancakes might burn in the center while remaining raw on the edges. They are also prone to warping if placed in cold water while hot.

Final Verdict

You get exactly what you pay for. The Granitestone set provides a massive quantity of functional pans for a low price, but they are not built to last.
