Our Place Always Pan

The pan that broke the internet. It claims to replace 8 pieces of cookware, but does it?

Our Place Always Pan

The Viral Sensation

If you have an Instagram account, you know what the Always Pan looks like. It is a masterclass in modern, minimalist marketing. Available in gorgeous muted colors, it claims to replace your fry pan, sauté pan, steamer, skillet, saucier, saucepan, non-stick pan, spatula, and spoon rest.

It features a ceramic non-stick coating, a modular lid that can trap or release steam, a custom stainless steel steamer basket, and a built-in notch on the handle to hold the included wooden spatula. The design is undeniably clever and extremely photogenic.

The Reality of 'Do-It-All'

As a daily driver for making pasta dishes, steaming dumplings, or scrambling eggs, the Always Pan is genuinely fantastic. The high sides make it great for tossing ingredients without them spilling over. However, as a 'replacement for everything', it falls short.

  • Pros: Stunningly beautiful, highly versatile for steaming and sautéing, non-toxic ceramic coating, great built-in spoon rest.
  • Cons: Cannot go in the oven at high temps, the ceramic coating degrades quickly if seared upon, expensive for a single pan.
  • Best For: Small apartments, casual cooks who mostly make one-pot meals, and aesthetic-focused kitchens.

Because it is ceramic, you cannot use high heat to sear a steak. Furthermore, it is not oven safe above 300°F, severely limiting its versatility. It is not an heirloom piece of cookware, but rather a highly convenient, beautiful tool for light, everyday cooking.

Final Verdict

The Always Pan is a brilliant piece of design for casual, one-pot cooking. Just don't throw away your cast iron skillet; you'll still need it for searing.
